Robert Cotton is a photographer, writer and amateur historian. He has a BA in History from the University of Guelph, studied photography at Fanshawe College and journalism at Canadore College. His photographs have been exhibited in both solo and group shows throughout the Grey Bruce region, including the Owen Sound Artists' Co-Op, Gallery de Boer, Griffin Gallery, Bruce Peninsula National Park Visitor Centre, L.E. Shore Memorial Library and Durham Art Gallery. Three pieces were commissioned for permanent exhibit in the Owen Sound & North Grey Union Public Library. Several pieces are in the permanent collection of the Tom Thompson Art Gallery in Owen Sound. Robert is also the curator of Grey Bruce Image Archives (GBIA), a collection of historical photographs that represents life in Owen Sound, Ontario and Grey & Bruce Counties. In 2018 he published a book Owen Sound Harbour – A Photographic History, using GBIA photographs to tell the story of the harbour.
